Houthis threaten to attack US ships if Washington strikes Iran

Yemen’s Houthis group on Saturday vowed to target US ships and warships in the Red Sea if Washington launches an attack on Iran in support of Israel.
In a televised speech, Yahya Saree, the group’s military spokesperson, said: If the US is involved in attacking and launching aggression against Iran alongside the Israeli enemy, then the (Houthi) armed forces will target their ships and warships in the Red Sea.
He stressed that any American attack and aggression in support of the Israeli enemy against Iran cannot be met with silence, as it serves the goal of enabling the Israeli enemy to gain control over the entire region.
Our forces are closely monitoring all movements in the region, including hostile actions against our country, and will take all necessary legitimate measures to defend our dear homeland and its proud people, he added.
The US made no immediate response to the latest threat issued by the Houthis.
In May, the US and the Houthis announced a ceasefire agreement in which the group agreed to stop attacking American vessels in exchange for Washington ceasing airstrikes on Yemen—an arrangement that has remained in place to this day.
Hostilities broke out on June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on several sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
Israeli authorities said at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks.
Meanwhile, in Iran, 430 people have been killed and more than 3,500 wounded in the Israeli assault, according to the Iranian Health Ministry.
