Brotherhood Scholars fuel the conflict between the two fronts of London, Istanbul

The so-called “Brotherhood Scholars” issued a statement today, Thursday, to resolve the conflict in the group between the fronts of Mahmoud Hussein and Ibrahim Munir, in which they sided with Munir and demanded Hussein to adhere, which may fuel the conflict between the two fronts.

The statement, whose wording shows a bias towards Ibrahim Munir, said that they reject the division that is taking place now in the group, calling for its unity and preventing any splits that may engulf and collapse it, and stressing that the pledge of allegiance is still in place for Munir and that nothing happened from him that would lead to the revocation of his allegiance or the robbery of what he described as his right.

Referring to Mahmoud Hussein and his companions from the leaders of the Istanbul Front, the statement called for the exclusion of what it described as any person with passion or purpose, and to work for unification and assimilation of the offenders, rejecting exclusion and marginalization, moving towards development, and renewal within the framework of institutionalization and collective leadership and responsibility for differences, solidarity or distance Which destroys the etiquette of dialogue.

The statement demanded the members and ranks of the group obey Munir, rally around him, cooperate with him and the necessity of implementing the binding and correct Shura consultation, adhering to its outputs, and working, according to him, to take over the righteous, trustees, and assign the matter to its people from every trustee.

Ibrahim Mounir and Mahmoud Hussein

The past days had witnessed a new chapter of the divisions that afflicted the Muslim Brotherhood for months, as Mahmoud Hussein, the former Secretary-General of the Brotherhood and the leader of what was known as the Istanbul Front, made statements broadcast by the group’s websites, in which he confirmed the invalidity of the decisions of Ibrahim Munir, the acting general guide, and his dismissal from his position, and the selection of a temporary committee to carry out his duties.

Hussein explained that the General Shura Council, which is the highest body in the group, met a few days ago and decided to dismiss Munir, and annul his recent decisions to marginalize, freeze and dismiss Brotherhood leaders, and also decided to form a temporary committee to assume the duties of the acting guide, adding that invitations were sent to all members of the Shura Council, Which was held with a valid quorum according to the group’s bylaw, and decided to take all those decisions, considering that “Munir is a brother, but he no longer has any responsibilities within the group,” considering that his recent decisions have no effect, and may only be taken by a decision of the approved and elected Shura Council.

In the details of the dispute, Hussein revealed that at the beginning of Munir’s assumption of responsibility, on the ninth of September 2020, he personally submitted a request from him and signed by 10 leaders from the Shura Council, to amend Article 5 of the group’s bylaw, which requires him to assume the task of charge d’affaires after the arrest of Mahmoud Ezzat, and the necessity Activating institutional work by referring the matter to the General Shura Council to take a decision, adding that he was surprised by Munir ignoring this.

The amendment also stipulated that in the absence of the guide and his deputies, the matter of the management of the group shall be referred to the Shura Council, and the text requiring the oldest member of the Guidance Office to take over the work of the guide, which Munir rejected and ignored, would be referred to the Shura Council. . In addition, he stressed that Munir may not dissolve elected councils or dismiss or freeze leaders in the Shura, declaring that the Council issued a decision to relieve Munir from his position, and to cancel all its decisions.

It is noteworthy that with this step, the scene is ready for Hussein to assume the position of acting general guide, instead of Munir, and to retain all the companies, tasks and responsibilities subject to the group. On the other hand, Munir rejected the decision, and announced the formation of a new Shura Council to respond to Hussein’s Shura and cancel its decisions. The new formation was also called the Abroad Shura Council, and it was supported by Mahmoud al-Ibiari and Muhammad al-Buhairi, the two leaders in the international organization.

Freezing and marginalizing leaders

Also, it decided to freeze and marginalize a number of Brotherhood leaders loyal to Hussein and the Istanbul Front, whose number has so far reached about 73 leaders, with the continued freezing of the big six in the Istanbul Front, they are Mahmoud Hussein, Medhat Al-Haddad, Muhammad Abdel Wahab, Hammam Ali Youssef, Rajab Al-Banna and Mamdouh Mabrouk.

It is noteworthy that in addition to Al-Buhairi and Al-Ebiari, Youssef Nada, the former commissioner for international relations of the group and responsible for the group’s investments in most parts of the world supported Munir’s decision, where he made statements a few days ago in which he tried to resolve the conflict in his favor and the leaders of London.

He stressed that Munir looks after the interests of the group more than himself and his family, begging the youth and members of the group not to be drawn into what he described as sedition, and demanding the necessity of her retirement, and not to repeat what happened previously, when a group of Brotherhood youth defected in the forties and formed a front known as the Muhammad Youth.

He said that the historical leaders of the group present in Egyptian prisons settled the matter for years, and confirmed that in the event of the arrest of Mahmoud Ezzat, Munir would be appointed in his place, adding that the latter had the confidence of the group’s guides, starting with Hamid Abu Al-Nasr, the fourth guide of the group, and the confidence of the guides after him, who are Mustafa Mashhour. Mahdi Akef and Muhammad Badi.
