Over 60 martyrs in Gaza camp massacre amid burial crisis

The Israeli occupation continues its deadly assault on Gaza, targeting civilians, displacement tents, and schools across the besieged Strip.

In the latest wave of aggression on Thursday morning, 10 Palestinians, mostly women and children, were martyred in a strike on the Mustafa Hafiz School in the al-Rimal neighborhood of western Gaza City.

Our correspondent reported that the Israeli military demolished several homes in the eastern al-Zaytoun neighborhood and bombed the Fahd Al-Sabah School, which shelters displaced civilians on Yafa Street in al-Tuffah, eastern Gaza City. Simultaneously, 13 Palestinians were killed when Israeli forces shelled tents housing displaced persons in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, in the south of the Strip, according to Palestinian media.

Mujahideen Movement condemns school massacre

The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement strongly condemned the massacre at Mustafa Hafiz School and the broader atrocities, denouncing the international community’s silence over the siege, starvation, and ongoing genocide. The group said the attacks on civilians in shelters constitute ethnic cleansing and systematic extermination.

The movement accused the US and “Israel” of using humanitarian aid systems as tools of repression, describing them as death traps for Palestinians, placing full responsibility for the massacre on the US administration and President Donald Trump for their complicity in “Israel’s” crimes.

In its statement, the movement called on international institutions to break their silence on what it described as unprecedented crimes of genocide and starvation, urging global solidarity to intensify pressure and oppose the Zionist war of extermination against Palestinians.

Mounting civilian death toll

As of Thursday morning, Al Mayadeen reported 63 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire since dawn, including 28 who were waiting for humanitarian aid.

Among the victims were three Palestinians killed by artillery fire at the western roundabout in Beit Lahia. In central Gaza City, a woman was also killed and several others wounded in a strike near the al-Hijani Mosque in the al-Daraj neighborhood. Additionally, Eastern Gaza also came under renewed artillery shelling

Ten victims waiting for aid were transported to Al-Shifa Medical Complex amid Israeli bombardment against displacement shelters and densely populated civilian areas.

Grave shortages amid a burial crisis

On another note, Gaza’s Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs announced that graves have run out in most areas due to the ongoing aggression and mounting casualties. The ministry said families are now forced to bury loved ones in hospital yards, school grounds, and private spaces.

The blockade has also prevented the entry of burial materials, denying martyrs proper religious funerals. Forced displacement to the Al-Mawasi area has further reduced available burial land, leading to overcrowded morgues.

Since October 2023, more than 40 cemeteries have been partially or completely destroyed. Access to others has been restricted by Israeli forces, exacerbating the shortage.

The ministry urged Arab and Islamic nations and humanitarian organizations to support the Ikram campaign to build free graves and provide burial essentials, calling it an urgent humanitarian and religious necessity.

Healthcare system near collapse

In a critical development, the World Health Organization warned that Gaza’s healthcare system is on the verge of collapse due to severe fuel shortages.

In a post on X, the WHO reported that no fuel has entered Gaza for over 120 days, halting humanitarian and medical operations. Hospitals are nearly non-functional, and continued outages could completely shut down the health system.

The WHO called for the immediate entry of fuel to prevent a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe.
