28th Liga in FC Barcelona history

Barcelona have won the league for the 28th time, completing the domestic treble in 2024/25 of La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. So ends a thrilling season of football, which is just the first step towards a highly promising future with a wealth of young players that have yet to reach their peak and a coach who the fans have fully warmed to.
Style and legacy
This title is the latest chapter in a success story dating all the way back to 1929, when Barça won the very first edition of the Spanish league championship. Since then, the record has got better and better, together with the development of a style that is now admired all around the planet. From Samitier to Lamine Yamal, with the likes of Kubala, Guardiola and Xavi Hernández in between, these 28 leagues have brought memories to be cherished forever. Our style, our legacy
Hansi Flick guided the team to the title just two years after its last win in 2022/23, while the club amassed an impressive ten Liga titles in the last 17 years. And it has happened with a daring, attractive breed of football that the younger generation have fully embraced, suggesting that a team that has already made remarkable achievements is likely to to continue enjoying as much success as ever, if not more.
2008/09 can be singled out as the year that Barça entered a new dimension. Between then and 2019, blaugrana ribbons were attached to the Liga trophy no fewer than ten times, the sides coached by Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Luis Enrique Martínez and Ernesto Valverde leaving no doubt as to which team was the dominant force in Spanish football.
Leo Messi, now the all-time highest scorer in Liga history with 474 goals, is obviously the standout figure, but the likes of Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba and so many other players have also had a part.
Perhaps the most remarkable season of all was the one when Barça broke the 100-point barrier under Tito Vilanova. In that 2012/13 campaign, the team only lost twice, while drawing four times and winning the other 32, scoring 115 times and only conceding 40.
From 2019, there were three three dry years, but the incredible defensive solidity under Xavi Hernández (with Ter Stegen winning the Zamora after being beaten just 0.49 times a game) and a strong attack led by 23-goal Lewandowski, managed to end that drought.
Looking back
But the 1990s were also a turning point in Barça’s fortunes. Until that decade, the club had ‘only’ win the league ten times, and by the end of it, there were six more in the trophy room.
Of particular note were the four consecutive titles won by Johan Cruyff’s Dream Team (1991 to 1994). The Dutchman remains the man who has coached the team to more league titles than anyone else.
And entering the new century, further history was made when Frank Rijkaard led the team to two championships in a row with a star-studded line-up featuring the likes of Valdés, Puyol, Iniesta, Ronaldinho and Eto’o.
