The Russian Defense Ministry said that its forces have captured three more villages in Eastern Ukraine, reported Agence France-Presse and Reuters, quoted by BTA.

A statement from the ministry, published on “Telegram”, specifies that these are the villages of Derylove and Maiske (Derylovo and Maiskoye in Russian) in Donetsk region and Stepove (Stepovoye) in neighboring Dnepropetrovsk region.

According to data from the Russian Defense Ministry, quoted by TASS, over the past 24 hours, Russian air defense has shot down 2 guided aerial bombs launched by Kiev forces and 131 Ukrainian drone..

Russian forces are gradually gaining ground in fierce fighting in devastated areas of eastern Ukraine. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Moscow has seized about 0.8% of Ukraine’s total area since the beginning of the year, AFP notes.

Eight drones were shot down over the Astrakhan region. In some places, fires broke out when debris fell, Governor Igor Babushkin reported on “Telegram”. He said there were no injuries, but warned locals not to approach any debris and to alert emergency services.

Ukraine also reported that one person was killed overnight and 12 others were wounded in Russian bombing in the southeastern Ukrainian Kherson region. Another strike damaged railway lines in the neighboring Odessa region, Kiev added.

Moscow said an oil refinery in Russia’s Chuvashia region had been shut down after a Ukrainian drone hit behind the front line.

In response to Russian attacks, Ukraine has regularly struck Russian military and energy targets, including oil refineries. Diplomatic attempts to end the conflict, now approaching its fourth year, have failed, and US President Donald Trump has hinted that Ukraine could be able to reclaim all of its territory from Russia, which has vowed to continue its offensive, AFP recalls.
