Algeria will host the Arab Sports Games next July

Khair El-Din Barbari, a member of the Executive Office of the Federation of Arab Olympic Committees, said that Algeria won the bid after its request was accepted by all members of the Executive Office of the Federation.

Barbari added in televised remarks “The application submitted by Algeria to host the tournament was studied, as everyone agreed unanimously, and this is good news and embodies a great upward dynamic for Algeria in embracing international sporting events.”.

Barbari confirmed that a delegation from the Federation of Arab Olympic Committees will visit Algeria to study all technical and organizational matters with the higher authorities in Algeria, which attaches great importance to hosting this event.

Qatar hosted the last edition of the Arab Games in late 2011, noting that the Arab Sports Association was launched in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1953.

Egypt excels in the number of hosts for the Arab Sports Association three times, the last of which was in 2007, and the Egyptian athletes dominated the medal standings in most of the tournaments.

After hosting the Mediterranean Games in Oran last summer, and the African Cup of Nations for local football (Al-Shan), which concluded last month, Algeria is preparing to host the Arab Games for the second time in its history, 19 years after it hosted the tenth session in 2004.
