Egyptian FM, US Counterpart Discuss Preparations for Sharm El-Sheikh Summit, Implementation of First Phase of Gaza Deal

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed preparations for Sharm El-Sheikh summit under co-chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his US counterpart Donald Trump in a phone call.
In a statement, Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that both sides also explored the latest regional developments, ongoing efforts to put an end to Gaza war and the implementation of the first phase of the recently announced ceasefire agreement.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of following up and implementing the agreement on the ground, both during the first and second phases, noting that the agreement provides hope to the peoples of the region, especially the Palestinian people.
The US Secretary of State termed Sharm El-Sheikh summit as a unique historic event.
Abdelatty emphasized that resolving the Palestinian issue and implementing the two-state solution will achieve the desired stability, peace, and security in the region.
