Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Italian counterpart discuss updates in Libya, Tunisia

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed the importance for all foreign forces and mercenaries to leave Libya without delay.

Di Maio briefed Shoukry on the outcome of his recent visit to Libya and his meetings with Libyan parties.

During a phone call with his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio, Wednesday both officials discussed the latest developments in Libya and Tunisia.

Shoukry also affirmed the need for supporting Tunisia’s stability and meeting the aspirations of the Tunisian people.

Shoukry stressed the importance of abiding by the roadmap adopted by the Libyan political forum and UNSC resolution no. 2570, which called for holding presidential and parliamentary elections on December 24, 2021 and kicking all foreign forces and mercenaries out of Libya without delay.

He voiced Egypt’s support for all measures taken by Tunisian President Kais Saied to fulfill the needs of the Tunisian people and safeguard the state’s institutions.
