Sameh Shoukry: Turkey’s Ban on Brotherhood Media “Positive Step” towards Normalization

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed that Turkey’s prevention of fugitives and the “Muslim Brotherhood” from appearing in the media represents a positive step by Ankara towards normalizing relations between the two countries.

In a statement to the “Al kahera wal Nas” TV channel, Shoukry said that “normal relations between countries are based on non-interference in internal affairs.”

He added, “The return of good relations between Egypt and Turkey will be dependent on the course in Libya, as the Libyan issue has an impact on Egyptian national security and is of importance to Egypt.”

He added that “the decision to prevent the fugitives and the “Muslim Brotherhood” from appearing on the media and social media is a policy that is consistent with the rules of international law, and it is a step that, if stable and continued, will lead to the normalization of relations and the continuation of contacts at various levels to resume relations.”
