Trump announced his intention to withdraw the United States from the Ukrainian conflict

US President Donald Trump told reporters that he intends to withdraw the country from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“This is [former US President Joe] Biden’s war, this is not my war. I’m here to get us out of this. It’s a mess, and I’m here to sort it out and get us out,” Trump said.

He noted that he was taking certain steps to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as quickly as other conflicts in the international arena.

“I’ve stopped five wars in the last five months. And, to be honest, I would like this to be the sixth. <…> Just take a look at the ones that have been done in the last two or three months, it was amazing. That’s what I’m trying to stop. That’s what we’re working on the most. I dealt with other countries in a matter of days,” the American leader emphasized.

Trump added that if it were not for Biden’s presidency, he would not have allowed this conflict to begin.

On July 29, the US president reduced the deadline for resolving the conflict to 10 days. At that time, Trump expressed his intention to impose import duties in the absence of a deal on Ukraine, while noting uncertainty about whether tariffs on Russia would work.

Earlier in the day, Trump intends to make a decision on Wednesday, August 6, related to sanctions against countries that purchase Russian oil. It is noted that a preliminary meeting will be held with Russian officials.
