White House Warns Americans Against Joining The Ranks Of Mercenaries

The White House called on Americans to refrain from traveling to Ukraine to fight in the ranks of mercenaries and Kyiv’s forces, warning of the inability of the United States to guarantee their security.

“The United States welcomes the conclusion of a prisoner exchange agreement between Russia and Ukraine, which included two American citizens captured while serving in the Ukrainian military,” White House spokeswoman Karen-Jean-Pierre said during a news briefing.

“The United States is grateful to Ukraine for including all prisoners, regardless of their nationalities, on the negotiating agenda, and we are anxiously awaiting the return of the American citizens to their families,” she added.

She stressed that “the US State Department recommends that American citizens not travel to Ukraine because those who participate in the fighting there are exposed to great danger and the United States is unable to guarantee their security.”
