Palestinian player, 14 Family members killed in Israeli airstrike on Gaza

A Palestinian player and 14 members of his family were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza, while the director of Gaza Sports Club was also killed while attempting to obtain humanitarian aid in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Football Association announced today the death of player Mohammad Ramez Al-Sultan, a player for Al-Hilal Club, along with 14 members of his family, following an Israeli strike targeting their home in Gaza.

The Association mourned the victims via its official Facebook page, condemning Israel’s continued targeting of Palestinian sports.

Additionally, Louay Asteita, director of Gaza Sports Club, died while attempting to secure humanitarian aid in northern Gaza.

Jibril Rajoub, president of the Palestinian Football Association, recently called on FIFA and the International Olympic Committee to assume their responsibilities and take urgent action to halt the attacks. He criticized what he described as double standards and FIFA’s failure to protect Palestinian sports.
