Abbas is losing his Palestinian influence, Dahlan ready to lead the next stage

Palestinian members confirmed that the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, lost his influence on the Palestinian side after postponing the elections without convincing reasons, this step had a great impact on the Fatah movement, which became divided into wings and blocs after the President of the Authority was unable to face his opponents insted he fired them.

These members indicated that the change of Abbas has become a decision agreed upon by the Palestinians within Fatah and the rest of the other factions, especially after he lost electoral legitimacy, stressing that this agreement prompted the search for a Palestinian figure who has acceptance internally and externally, especially at the regional level in order to re-mobilize The Palestinian role, which led to re-proposing the name of the Palestinian leader, Muhammad Dahlan, to play this role.

But the most important thing is that Dahlan has all the ingredients that enable him to lead an active political breakthrough that helps to get Arab and international support in light of the death of the two-state solution, and the lack of opportunities for a political settlement with the fascist right-wing government in Israel.

It is Known that Dahlan had spoken in earlier times about the project for a one-state solution to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which is receiving European and international attention, stressing the failure of the Oslo.

Dahlan is leading efforts to settle internal conflicts within Fatah and end the divisions between the factions, in addition to his efforts to end the suffering of Gaza people, who have been besieged for many years.

During their recent meeting in Cairo, the Palestinian factions discussed breaking the stalemate in which the Palestinians live under the authority of President Mahmoud Abbas, amid a consensus on the need to bring about change, which opens the door for the return of the reformist leader of the Fatah movement, Muhammad Dahlan, to the fore.

The media quoted Palestinian sources as saying that the factions that met recently in Cairo dealt with the issue of stabilizing the truce in Gaza for a period of 10 years, as well as resolving the differences between Hamas and Islamic Jihad after the latest round of fighting. It also discussed the role of Fatah reformers, led by Dahlan, in everything related to reconstruction.

Added that the next stage will witness an effective role for Dahlan, who enjoys regional support, and who may have prevented Hamas from being drawn into participating in the fighting between Israel and the Jihad movement.

The sources did not clarify the role that Dahlan will lead in the coming period, but what is likely to be played by this role is that he worked to bridge the gap between his movement, and serve the Palestinian people by mobilizing support and external funds on the particularly for the Gaza Strip.

Hamas has become betting on Dahlan and his foreign relations to help it get out of the crisis, he also can manage Arab recognition and bring it out of isolation.

Dahlan had previously made many promises to help Gaza, including an Emirati promise to build a $100 million power plant that could provide a permanent solution to the issue of power outages, which is one of the most prominent chronic crises in Gaza.
