Lavrov: “West is Again Trying to Assemble Nazi Coalition Against Russia, Belarus

The West is again trying to assemble a Nazi coalition against the Slavic peoples, against Russia and Belarus, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a reception on the occasion of Belarus’ Independence Day at the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow on 30 June, BelTA has learned.

“We see how Nazism is now rearing its head with the full connivance and even encouragement of our western neighbors,” Sergey Lavrov said. “In our common, as it once seemed, European home, they have sown the seeds of hatred, the seeds of racial superiority, the seeds of cancel culture, including Slavic culture.

They are not hiding it but turning it into practical politics, demolishing monuments to those who liberated Europe and building statues to Nazi criminals in their stead – to Bandera, Shukhevych and others. What the West is doing, using the Kiev regime as a tool, cannot be regarded otherwise than as another attempt to assemble a Nazi coalition against the Slavic peoples, against Russia and now against Belarus. This is essentially an official policy.

The Russian foreign minister stated that the West has thrown off the masks of tolerance, good neighborliness, good-naturedness and European humanism. “Everything that has happened between us and Europe since Belarus became independent, since Russia became independent, has turned out to be just a game, a pretense, a front for promoting exclusively their selfish interests,” he stressed.

“There is no desire to fulfill the oaths to create some common spaces, to promote common values on the basis of equality and mutual respect. There is no sincere desire in this regard. All the agreements that were concluded were all destroyed. I say this because once again we got all convinced that you need to trust, but in this case you do not even need to verify: we trusted and we verified.

“The strength is in unity. Over the years, we have made sure that together we will solve any problems. We were tested for strength in August 2020, in June of this year, and each time the solidarity, fraternal unity, mutual assistance of our peoples, the firmness of our presidents helped us to overcome any challenges that we faced. I have no doubt, that we will overcome any challenges that will surely come our way in our common future,” the Russian foreign minister concluded.

There is one conclusion: we must rely on ourselves. First of all, the Union State, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the projects for building a great Eurasian partnership with the participation of the organizations I mentioned, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and taking into account the projects that are being implemented within the framework of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
