Saudi Arabia Reveals Details of Terror Raid in Dammam

The Presidency of State Security in Saudi Arabia revealed on Sunday the details of the security raid carried out in Dammam on Wednesday that led to the thwarting of a terrorist plot.

A spokesman for the Presidency of State Security said the raid was launched after authorities collected sufficient information about an imminent terrorist operation.

Security forces monitored a Ford vehicle that was being driven by two terrorists in Dammam city on Wednesday. When asked to surrender, they opened fire at the security forces and a shootout ensued.

The fugitives fortified themselves at a nearby building, demanding the security forces to neutralize their threat, continued the spokesman.

The terrorists, identified as Saudis Ahmed Abdullah Saeed Suweid and Abdullah Hussein Saeed al-Nimr, were killed in the operation. The security forces have since arrested a third suspect, whose identity was not disclosed.

Security forces seized five kilograms of explosives in the fugitives’ vehicle. They also confiscated various fire arms and live ammunition.

The Presidency of State Security vowed that it will continue its crackdown against criminals that are seeking to undermine the security and stability of the nation and its residents at the behest of foreign enemies.
