Trump wanted to lead the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and called on the countries to conclude a peace treaty. “Both sides need and want it. The whole world is at stake,” the ex-President of the United States emphasized.
In his publication, the American leader asked if he should lead the negotiating team. Moscow and Kyiv have not yet responded to Trump’s proposal.
On the evening of September 29, Putin phoned Erdogan. The heads of the two states discussed the situation in Ukraine. In particular, the Russian leader informed his colleague about the results of the referendums in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the country’s readiness to become a mediator in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. “Having asked the President of Russia [Владимира]Putin to give the talks another chance, President Erdogan said that Turkey is ready to play the role of a mediator in this process,” the Turkish leader’s office said.
