Israel Preparing Possible Strike On Iranian Nuclear Facilities, US Intelligence Suggests

The United States has obtained new intelligence indicating that Israel may be preparing to launch strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, according to a report by CNN citing multiple US officials familiar with the matter.

While it remains unclear whether a final decision has been made by Israeli leaders, sources said the likelihood of a strike has increased significantly in recent months. One official noted that an Israeli attack could become more likely if the US were to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran that fails to eliminate all of Tehran’s uranium stockpile.

The White House National Security Council and the Israeli Embassy in Washington have not yet responded to requests for comment. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office also declined to issue a statement.

The report was based on a combination of intercepted Israeli communications, observed military movements, and public and private remarks from senior Israeli officials. Among the preparations noted were the movement of air munitions and the completion of an air force exercise.

The developments come amid ongoing US-led negotiations with Iran aimed at reviving a diplomatic agreement over its nuclear programme. However, on Tuesday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected US demands to halt uranium enrichment, calling them “excessive and outrageous,” and expressing scepticism about the success of the talks.

The possibility of Israeli military action underscores the fragility of the situation and the growing international concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
